As for how alignment works... Pretty simple. Each Elkron (there are a total of 36) is associated with a specific Alignment. As your character performs actions we record both the action and the motive. This combination determines the alignment shift. Actions relate to the Law-Chaos axis, and Motive relates to the Good-Evil axis. Most actions give a bump + or - 1 to Alignment. Some actions bump 2. Extra-ordinary actions may bump more, but that is not typical. An example would be a Robin Hood maneuver. The character steals from the rich to give to the poor. The Action is Theft which is a -1 Law_Chaos (chaotic). The motive is Charity, which gives a +1 Good-Evil (good). So the action gave the character a bump in the chaotic good direction. Over time your character will accumulate alignment. As you can see characters start with an initial alignment based on their birth sign. You can review the various Elkron's alignments by going through the list and seeing which Elkron show which alignments on the Character Description page. Thus the system gives you an initial alignment, but then after that it is your character's actions that determine the alignment which shifts over time. What I don't do is say, "your character is Lawful Good and therefore he can not do XYZ". However, if he is, say, a Paladin of Eldrik (Lawful Good) and does lots of Chaotic Evil acts, he will fall out of favor as his alignment shifts, and lose whatever powers he has. Each Elkron may respond to such a circumstance individually.
